Reports from the Excelsior Springs Police Department from July 20, 2011 to July 27, 2011:
July 20, 8:39 a.m., U.S. 69 north of Missouri 92 -- report of child playing in ditch and on highway. Not found, but child was later located in residential area outside town and Clay County responded.
July 20, 7:26 p.m., 1300 block of Tracy Avenue -- officers unlocked vehicle with child inside. (CTM: when I read this I imagine that the cops opened the car and then found a child, sort of like the surprise you get when you think you are eating a normal doughnut but it turns out to be cream-filled instead).
July 21, 2:20 a.m., Thompson and Dagley streets -- report of people with flashlights inside residence. They were cleaning. (CTM: yep, that's how most people clean things -- at 2 in the morning with flashlights. I bet they were wearing masks and "cleaning" by putting TVs and jewelry into the back of their van.)
July 21, 11:33 a.m., 1000 block of Golden Avenue -- report of loud music coming from parked vehicle. Driver had fallen asleep; he agreed to turn down volume. (CTM: understandable. Loud music puts me right to sleep, too!)
July 21, 11:59 a.m., Hickory Street and N. Titus Avenue -- report of truck releasing sewage on street. Gone on arrival, but officer located residue and advised disposal company of complaint.
July 21, 7:01 p.m., 1100 block of Cordell Street -- report of missing 5-year-old. Child was found inside residence. (CTM: child consequently won the hide-and-seek game being played).
July 23, 11:41 a.m., 500 block of Caldwell Avenue -- male said people were going through Dumpster and making mess. Extra patrol requested; officer counseled two subjects who had just left. (CTM: the capitalization of "Dumpster" is how it was written in the blotter. So either there was a typo or "Dumpster" is a person. If the latter is true then I can see why the cops were called.)
July 25, 5:21 a.m., 2200 block of Kearney Road -- report of male standing in roadway screaming. No one was located.
July 25, 2:07 p.m., 1700 block of Rainbow Boulevard -- report of disoriented female who had been brought to hospital. It was determined that she had memory problems and was reunited with husband.
July 25, 3:15 p.m., 400 block of Isley Boulevard -- disturbance. Officer talked with mother and son who were arguing over TV; they were advised to resolve differences. (CTM: I can only imagine what they were fighting over. I'm assuming it had something to do with the mother wanting to watch soap operas, which makes the whole situation understandable from the son's point of view.)
July 26, 12:58 a.m., U.S. 69 and Crown Hill Road -- male, 22, said vehicle drove past while he was walking and occupant threw plastic water bottle at him. Only wanted officers aware.
July 26, 4:24 a.m., Saratoga Avenue and Isley Boulevard -- male, 24, said someone threw mud balls at vehicle and ran away. No one was located; extra patrol requested. (CTM: hmm...same date around the same time...I bet this was the previous complainant retaliating for getting a water bottle thrown at him. Basically the closest you can get to a gang war in Excelsior Springs).
