Here we go again. The most notable entries for the Excelsior Springs Police Department from July 6, 2011 to July 13, 2011. Make sure you read to the bottom of the post for the return of the picture entry.

July 6, 10:59 a.m., 100 block of Juniper Street -- male said he found his trash cans on fire. It was determined he had placed hot substance in trash and caused incident.

July 6, 4:18 p.m., 200 block of S. Marietta Street -- report of subjects in alley with weapons. They were filming using unloaded air soft guns.

July 6, 7:01 p.m., 400 block of Dunbar Avenue -- report of two juveniles with knives stabbing playground equipment. They were counseled and released to guardian.

July 8, 2 p.m., 1400 block of Magnolia West -- report of possibly intoxicated subject sitting outside, playing the guitar. He was given ride to nearby residence. (author's note: since when is playing the guitar outside at 2 p.m. illegal?)

July 8, 11:42 p.m., 2000 block of W. Jesse James Road -- possible assault. Male said children were wrestling and he was trying to get them under control; they agreed to quiet down.

July 9, 2:05 a.m., 300 block of S. Main Street -- two patrol vehicles were in minor accident on private property. No injuries. (author's note: well, at least they are fair. The cops reported themselves to themselves.)

July 9, 2:55 p.m., 500 block of Caldwell Avenue -- report of possible kidnapping/hostage situation. Several subjects were held pending investigation, then released because no such crime occurred. (author's note: what? How was there confusion about a hostage situation? Did the perpetrators convince the police that the hostages had actually given consent or something?...or maybe it was just the same crew mentioned earlier that was filming a movie. Sounds like a great movie.)

July 10, 7:51 p.m., 600 block of N. Titus Avenue -- fireworks complaint. It was children throwing snappers on sidewalk. (author's note: yep, this definitely seems like a matter for the police to be involved in.)

July 11, 3:42 p.m., 900 block of Wornall Road -- male, 31, said while he was out of town someone took catalytic converter off car and put unknown substance in gas tank. Investigation continued.

July 12, 4:12 a.m., 1800 block of Kearney Road -- officers stood by while fire department extinguished hay bales on fire. (author's note: to me, this entry reads: "officers stood around while fire department did work.")

July 12, 10 a.m., 200 block of Lynn Road -- report of door-to-door sales representative getting pushy. Gone on arrival.

PICTURE ENTRY:

July 12, 10:31 a.m., 1400 block of Ann Avenue -- report of suspicious subjects. They were city employees checking water meters.
